With a shot at the UFC light-heavyweight title on the line for Glover Teixeira at UFC Fight Night 28, the window of opportunity quickly looked to be closing in the very first round of the nights feature attraction as a left hand by his opponent Ryan Bader staggered and dropped the potential No. 1 contender.

Smelling blood Bader jumped on the chance to put Teixeira away and end the fight as he landed a barrage of unanswered shots.

“As he knocked me down, I knew he was going to come with his guard open because he was going to try to submit me,” Teixeira said. “That’s the opportunity I used…” 

Eating punches the resilient Brazilian managed to get on his feet biding his time perfectly places a two punch combination that was all he needed to put away Ryan Bader, securing himself his 5th straight victory, much to the delight of the jam packed crowd that filled the (insert venue name)  No official word yet on whether Glover is next in line to get a crack at the 205lbs. belt and despite what some would call a “so-so” victory, the winner of the Jon Jones vs. Alexander Gustafson title at UFC 165 later this month should heed warning that the defiant Texieria has his sights already set on the strap!

“To tell you the truth, I wasn’t happy with this fight. It disappointed me that he was able to knock me down,” he said during the post fight conference, adding “I’m telling you, this belt is gonna be mine. It doesn’t matter if it’s Jon Jones or if it’s Gustafsson, it’s mine.”
